Page numero uno of about 180+ Here is a screenshot off my desktop of my ipad's screen mirrored onto it with the help of a little program called Reflector. Pretty cool! A tiny bit blurred but hopefully they will improve on it to fix that. You can view other skins: versions of all the ipads, white and black. A handy tool for giving a non-techie client a quick view of their book pages on a device. Some folks are still not very techie when it comes to e-books. They think they can open the file with just any software. Nope. Gotta be an ereader device or just some free ereader software of which there is a mountain to chose from. Just Google e-reader and you'll see. Firefox has a great plugin called epubreader that most mimics an ipad experience. It's close but not totally what you will see on a pad. It uses the same webkit engine that Safari and ios devices use. Adobe Digital Editions is another free reader I use for quick edit previews. It leaves a bit to be desired for regular reading use.

Well we're off and running now with the website but that doesn't mean it's time to take a breather! There's lots more work to do, augmenting the site, adding info to the author pages and of course finishing up Trosley's How To Draw Cartoon Cars! GT's ebook is nearing completion and promises to be a hit already! George has a big following on Facebook; his likes are approaching 5k and people hang on every new image posted. He has a large fan base to be sure. Folks just can't get enough of cartoon hotrod art and the Troz is the main supplier these days. His cars take on a life of their own on the page which is the real appeal to folks. You can instantly feel the difference between his creations and any others. There's a personality in that hunk of rubber and iron on wheels and after all that is what draws people to cars. They're extensions of ourselves and project a persona as well as getting us down the highway. George knows how to imbue his drawings of automobiles with a sense of humanity and reveals that connection to everyone who's ever fallen in love with a set of wheels. Stay tuned, the book is scheduled to be out in April and we'll make the announcement when a launch is imminent.
-Dan C My e-publishing imprint has a new website! Finally a place to land and settle in for a new era in cartoon book publishing. The design is killer and the theme of tablet computers is right on. This will be the epicenter of FEB Publishing and the place where you can find the best in cartoon e-books as well as links to the sellers for your device type. We offer books through all the big sellers: Amazon, iBooks, Nook and Kobo and we'll be adding to that list too. It's an exciting time to be a cartoonist with opportunities we've never had before to get our work out to the people and with the means of monetizing that content tailor made for those who up until now had no mechanisms for that available to them. It's a brave new world and artists are taking the high ground and basking in the sunlit uplands of this virgin publishing landscape. It is our time; we don't need publishers, agents, printers or any of the other obstacles of the old order. In a word, it's cool.
So visit us often; new books will be coming out, we'll link to our Facebook page which will have all kinds of tips and posts about epub production as well as other articles about the world of e-publishing and how to get your work the exposure that it deserves. Yours in humor, Dan Collins |
